If you’re looking for a day hike near Denver, look no further than Evergreen, Colorado. With its towering peaks and pristine forests, this area is a hiker’s paradise. In this blog post, we will provide an overview of the best hiking trails in the area, and an in depth look at Evergreen Mountain! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced hiker, there’s something for everyone in Evergreen!

Evergreen, CO is a small town located about 30 minutes west of Denver. The town sits at an elevation of over 7000 feet, and is surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. There are numerous hiking trails in the area, ranging from easy to difficult. Evergreen Mountain is one of the most popular hiking destinations in the area, and for good reason! This trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, and is perfect for a day hike.

We hiked this trail in early May and the weather was perfect. It was about 60-65 degrees and partly cloudy. The sun made its way out, but you can find shade along the trail no problem. There was no snow or ice on the trail at all.

Early May is also a fabulous time to be in Evergreen because the Elk are at this elevation during this time of year. We saw plenty of Elk on our way into town, and we even saw a few of them taking up the Evergreen High School soccer field!

There were a lot of other hikers out and a bunch of mountain bikers. I suggest getting there early if you want to avoid the traffic. We got there a little before 9am and had no trouble finding parking. On our way down it was getting really crowded and there were no spots left in the parking lot.

The trailhead is located just outside of town, and the hike itself is about five miles round trip. Alderfer/Three Sisters Park has plenty of parking, and there is overflow on the side of the road.

If you’re looking for a challenging hike with incredible views, Evergreen Mountain is the perfect option! Some other hiking trails near Evergreen include Bear Creek Trail, Mount Falcon Park, and Bergen Peak.

So what are you waiting for? Pack your hiking boots and head to Evergreen for an unforgettable day on the trails!
